Stepping into the Towson Center Sunday April 19th, Erin Previte started warming up to try out for the Towson cheerleading team.
Erin has done gymnastics since she was a little kid and wanted to try something new when she got to college. To prepare for the try outs she practiced, practiced, practiced.
“I was so nervous walking into tryouts because I didn’t know what to expect and there were so many girls,” said Erin Previte, sophomore at Towson University.
There were 38 girls that came to show off their talent at the try outs that started at 9 a.m. and lasted till about 4 p.m.
“The day started off with everyone stretching and warming up,” Previte said. “Butterflies were in my stomach as we started to do the actually talent stuff. We started with standing tumbling followed by running tumbling, spiriting, chants, stunting, then there was a lunch break. After lunch they interviewed all the girls.”
“The hardest part was stunting because you are doing it for a long period of time with girls you don’t know but have to trust,” Previte said.
The coaches took about half an hour to discuss the events of the day and came back with the list of 24 girls who made the team.
Erin explained how she started jumping for joy when they called her name because she was so excited that she made the team.
“The best part about being on a team is knowing that I have a group of friends to turn to for help and always be able to count on them,” Previte exclaimed.
